A contemporary of Ralph Henry Barbour, who is also featured in this exhibit, Heyliger prolifically published stories for young boys as serials in periodicals including The American Boy, Boys’ Life, and The Boys Magazine. This work is a collection of short stories and spans subjects that would interest children like baseball, football, the scouting, and swimming. While only two of the seven collected stories are about baseball, all of them deal with school children learning lessons of morality and sportsmanship through athletic activity.

A gift from Mrs T. Lorraine Graber at the bequest of Dr. Ralph Graber.
