As America’s national pastime, baseball has had an outsize impact on regional and national culture. While the popularity of baseball has fluctuated over the decades with the rise of other national sports, the signs, symbols, and language of the game remain embedded in society. In this work, commercial photographer Richard Sexton identifies about 130 consumer products across ten categories that embody the essence of American style. The Wilson A2000 Baseball Glove, used by a large amount of professional players, is featured under the “Sports and Leisure Goods” section. First introduced in 1957, this glove is noted for its enlarged pocket area design, an innovation that changed how the players fielding style and abilities.
