The Art of Drawing on Stone, Giving a Full Explanation of the Various Styles, of the Different Methods to be Employed to Ensure Success, and of the Modes of Correcting, as well as of the Several Causes of Failure. London: C. Hullmandel [etc., 1824].

Hullmandel was one of John Gould's lithographers, the means by which all of Gould's drawings were printed prior to their being hand-colored. Through this publication, he promoted the use of lithography as a technique for printing images. The image of a woman on the title page leads one to speculate whether he intended this as a manual for ladies. Gould's wife, Elizabeth, did indeed contribute extensively to the production of the 3,000 plates included in her husband's bird books.
