American Ornithology; or, the Natural History of Birds Inhabiting the United States, Not Given by Wilson. With Figures Drawn, Engraved, and Coloured, from Nature.Philadelphia: Samuel Agustus Mitchell, 1825-1828.

Nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte, Prince Charles Lucien Bonaparte resided in Philadelphia from 1824-33 where he was an active participant in the scientific community. Well-known and respected as an ornithologist in both France and the United States, Bonaparte met Audubon in 1824. Impressed by Audubon's work, he took him to show his work to members of the Natural Academy of Sciences in Philadelphia.

This work is a continuation of Alexander Wilson's pioneering ornithological work, as referenced in the title.
