Red Neck is a proletarian novel of the Pennsylvania coal fields, one of very few radical novels from this period not written from a doctrinaire Communist Party perspective. The novel presents a realistic unsentimental picture of the pressured lives of mine union organizers. RIDEOUT p. 197; BLAKE p. 258; HANNA 750.
