This volume contains papers from Albert Einstein’s “miraculous year,” 1905, during which he published four groundbreaking papers in Annalen der Physik. He also submitted an additional paper for his doctorate that was published in 1906. It is from these papers that Einstein developed his special theory of relativity and the equivalence of matter and energy, which contributed to his 1921 Nobel Prize.
