The term “the time machine,” coined by H. G. Wells, is now universally used to refer to such a conveyance. His story is credited with the popularization of time travel using a vehicle which might be used to observe different cultures and generations. This science fiction novella inspired many similar works of fiction. It was originally published in 1895.

Lehigh's copy of The Time Machine was published by the Limited Editions Club in 1964. It features new illustrations from artist Joe Mugnaini. It is in a slipcase with the author's The War of the Worlds. The book is number 266 of 1500 copies.
