This text, which was edited by Angelo de Filiis (b. 1583), includes a series of published letters from scholar Marcus Welser (1558-1614) to Galileo. Galileo is credited with a number of scientific discoveries, as well as repurposing the recently discovered telescope to study the skies. Through necessity, Galileo’s laboratory was comprised of the earth and sky. Among his discoveries were the sunspots detailed in the present text.
