Robert Lewis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) has been interpreted as an examination of the duality of human nature. Dr. Jekyll experiments in his laboratory with various potions and drugs that come to affect his personality. In the nineteenth century, the use of drugs such as opium was known and as rampant as the use of other drugs today.

Lehigh's copy of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a Limited Editions Club copy from 1952 featuring illustrations by Edward A. Wilson. Published in an edition of 1500 copies, Lehigh has number 924.
