Robert Fitzroy. Narrative of the Surveying Voyages of His Majesty's Ships Adventure and Beagle, between the Years 1826 and 1836, Describing their Examination of the Southern Shores of South America, and the Beagle's Circumnavigation of the Globe. London: H. Colburn, 1839.

It took Fitzroy three years to summarize and publish accounts of his travels to South America following the Beagle's return. Included are: Proceedings of the first expedition, 1826-1830, under the command of Captain P. Parker King; Proceedings of the second expedition, 1831-1836, under the command of Captain Robert Fitz-Roy, and a journal and remarks, 1832-1836.

Named for the breed of canine, the H.M.S. Beagle was commissioned to circumnavigate and survey the coast of South America, with voyages taking place from 1826-1830; 1831-1836; and 1837-1843.
