1520 Apian

Figure 1 has the title page of a work associated with Peter Apian.

Figure 2 contains a world map. Note its similarity to the cordiform map that appears in the 1511 entry of this exhibit, which in turn reflects the influence of Ptolemy.  Notable on this map is the word "America", which Goff mentions as being inspired by the Waldseemuller map, presumably the same one that the Library of Congress acquired.
