16th and 17th Century Maps

The history of mapping component of this exhibit has three large themes:

• The first theme is Ptolemy's influence on mapping in the 16th century. 
• Also, the scanned images display the unfolding discoveries of new lands by  navigators; 
• Finally, the exhibit mentions how map-makers experimented with new ways to depict the globe on the flat surface of a map.
