-Second British Edition of Whitman’s Poetry

In the mid-1880s, the Welsh socialist Ernest Rhys worked with Whitman to include a selection of poems from Leaves of Grass in the Canterbury Poets series that he edited for the London publisher Walter Scott. Rhys would go on to found the “Everyman Library” of inexpensive reprints, which made popular and influential books affordable for a wide audience of readers.
