Mystery Addition

MysteryNot.jpg

This grouping of pictures has the Special Collections office scratching their heads. In this top picture, circa 1890, shows the University Center, Linderman Library, and the manicured hill on which they sit. In the middle picture, circa 1920, there is an addition to the University Center that is not present in the 1890 photograph. In many photographs from this era, it is simply there, with no construction photos or information as to what it contained. The bottom picture, circa 1950, then shows the addition removed as they prepare to start construction on the south wing of the expansion completed in 1958. No information has yet been found to explain when the addition was buit, and it's purpose still remains a mystery. If you have ot find any information that you think may be relevant in solving this mystery please email the Special Collections office at inspc@lehigh.edu.
