Photo Story of Lehigh 1915-1919

This exhibition features selected photographs from Howard David Ginder's album that containing 206 original photographs taken during his years at Lehigh, 1915-1919. The selected photographs present scenes from campus buildings, student life, South Bethlehem, and reflections of the Great War in the area.

Although Ginder's album was donated to Lehigh University just last February by his daughter Jacquelin G. Kelly, photos from the album have already been used in several Lehigh projects.

Many students (probably all at present) have taken photographs during their student years. Some of those end up in the Archives as important resources for research. Among the over 16 thousand cataloged Special Collections photographs, student albums are noted for their intimacy, creativity, humor and photojournalistic reality. These albums are among the most valuable archival materials for documenting experiences of the campus and the surroundings. They tell unique stories. This is Howard David Ginder's story of Lehigh 1915-1919.

The exhibition can be viewed through September 30, in Special Collections, Fairchild-Martindale Library 3rd Floor Room 625; Monday-Friday, 1-5 pm.
