MASS FLOW IN INTERACTING BINARY STARS: THE CASE OF U CEPHEI
U Cephei is an eclipsing binary system with an orbital period of 2.49 days. The brighter (blue) star is hotter, larger and more massive than the Sun, while the fainter (yellow) star is even larger but somewhat cooler than the Sun. The plane of the orbit is oriented in such a way that, as seen from the earth, each star partially eclipses the other during one orbit.
