This map shows the southern (first) and middle (second) Pennsylvania anthracite coal fields in Dauphin, Lebanon, Schuylkill, Carbon, Northumberland, and Columbia Counties. It details the distances of coal-producing cities to New York and Philadelphia markets and provides an extensive list of anthracite collieries with their respective operators, landowners, and ash type shown at the bottom of the map. On the bottom right portion of the map is a seller’s stamp reading, “L. Smith Map Publisher, 17 South Sixth Street Philadelphia”.
