Steve Jobs (1955-2011)

An entrepreneur, marketer and inventor, Jobs co-founded Apple, Inc. with friend Steve Wozniak. Jobs was widely recognized as a pioneer of the personal computer and consumer electronics. He invented the smartphone, and was among the first to see the potential of the mouse-driven graphical user interface. He played a role in introducing laser printers to the market. He admired Edwin Land and the Polaroid camera. He acquired the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm from which he created Pixar, Inc. and produced the animated film Toy Story. He oversaw the development the of the iMac, iTunes, iPod, iPhone and iPad. When he was forced out of Apple, he started “NeXT Computer” a company that built the workstation computer. When Jobs returned to Apple, he encouraged the company to create the “Red Product” project as a marketing tool to fund charitable donations. A specialty line of red products were made and a portion of the sales went to charities that were concerned with global health issues.
