Arsenex

Lehigh's engineers have a long tradition of global initiative with an active environmental engineering outreach program that includes research to eliminate arsenic from groundwater as well as an Engineers Without Borders program.

Dr. Arup SenGupta (currently environmental engineering professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department) and his students have patented a clean water technology method of a simple, inexpensive and efficient polymer adsorbent to remove arsenic from contaminated groundwater. For this effort, they received a Grainger Silver Prize from the National Academy of Engineering.

"Arsenex" a polymer-based adsorbent (developed at Lehigh) that can effectively remove arsenic from contaminated water.
