Hartmann Schedel. Liber Chronicarum. Nuremberg: Anton Koberger, 1493.

...These illustrations depicted popes and kings, as well as European cities. To save time and money, however, many of the images were used for more than one person or more than a single city. This book is also one of the first for which the designer's working drawings still exist. They have been extensively analysed by Adrian Wilson in his The Making of the Nuremberg Chronicle (Amsterdam: Nico Israel, 1976). The work was issued in both a Latin and a German edition. Lafayette College owns a copy of the German edition.
