Vocabulario en lengua de Mechuacan
Much like Alonso de Molina’s dictionary of the Nautatl language, Gilberti developed this vocabulary of the Purépecha language to facilitate missionary work. Purépecha, also known as Tarascan, was a language spoken exclusively in the Michoacán area of Mexico. The Purépecha empire was a contemporary rival of the Aztecs, with a distinct culture and language.
Maturino Gilberti (1498-1585).
