Kenneth Graham served at the secretary of the Bank of England from 1898 to 1907. However, he is better known for his works of children’s literature, especially for The Wind in the Willows. The Golden Age, published in 1895, was the book that started Grahame’s career as a writer. It is a collection of children’s stories that challenged the prevailing “cult of the beautiful child” by portraying a more realistic, mischievous childhood that questioned adult authority.
